New App Drop -- Logivva

Tracking the Medicare Skilled Nursing Facility Timeline

Updated
4 min read

Welcome to my boring, niche app talk.

https://logivva.com/ is live, and its biggest features (imho) are counting days and logging notes. Counting days? What’re you talking about?

https://www.medicare.gov/coverage/skilled-nursing-facility-care

Your costs in Original Medicare

You pay these amounts for each benefit period:

  • Days 1 – 20: Nothing. (Note: If you're in a Medicare Advantage Plan, you may be charged copayments during the first 20 days. Check with your plan for more information.)

  • Days 21 – 100: $209.50 each day.

  • Days 101 and beyond: You pay all costs.

Part A limits SNF coverage to 100 days in each benefit period.

Logivva gives you some quick glances at where you stand in that timeline.

(Hey, the daily rate is wrong above! Nice eye. It’s fixed in the app)

Now, I don’t have any particular guidance to offer you if you’re appealing things like a Notice of Medicare Non-Coverage (NOMNC) or Detailed Explanation of Non-Coverage (DENC), but I do think it would help to be organized. The earlier you start a regular routine of taking notes of the SNF stay the more likely you’re going to have an accurate event timeline.

Name Game

How do you pronounce logivva? loh-JEE-vah

What is that supposed to mean? As I’ve mentioned before, basically every domain name is already taken. After a lot of looking around, I smashed log and caregiver and Cajun seasoning together to come up with a fancy sounding nonsense word.

Claude Code Pro

Yes, I used Claude to do a lot of this and the experience has been pretty good after the Cursor letdown I mentioned in my last post. Random notes:

  • I guess I didn’t RTFM enough. I just saw subagents are a thing and created a couple, but haven’t put many miles on them yet.

  • It’s still pretty easy to get rate limited if you’re locked in
5-hour limit reached ∙ resets 12pm /upgrade to increase your usage limit.
so break things into bite size pieces, have it summarize and document in markdown to feed into future tasks, and /clear when you’re shifting gears.

  • I guess I should lock down my instructions on what it’s allowed to do, but it seems fond of npm run dev even when I already have a server running. Sometimes it stops them, other times I see them still running. Dunno.

  • Bad news, quality is still directly proportional to the guidance and oversight you put into it: you should keep a close eye on the decisions it makes as it’s not uncommon for questionable decisions.

    • I saw it add db columns to a users table for attributes that really apply to the group to which the user belongs, and to make it awesomer it didn’t even make an attempt at keeping those new user-level columns consistent for the other users in the group.

    • Created a sign out link that didn’t invalidate the server-side session

  • Over eagerness, I’ve also asked it to simply research the functionality of something with no code changes only to have it research and then immediately start making changes.

  • Lazy as humans, see below. Mostly? How about none?

    • The lint errors are mostly unrelated to my changes. Let me run a quick test to verify the notification service is working

    • The TypeScript errors are mostly pre-existing. Let me test the implementation manually and then update the documentation:

  • I’ve started paying attention to /context to try to get a feel for where my conversations stand and what impact my subagents and memory files have on context usage.

Logivva Sounds So Useful

How much does it cost to use? Sign up for free, no credit card required. The free tier offers plenty of functionality. There is a Pro tier (it’s currently $29 one time payment) for a year of access that offers extended capabilities (e.g., increased document storage limits, more data export options, calendar exports).

Future Roadmap

If multiple people find this useful enough to go Pro I’ll probably add SMS notifications (currently has in-app and email). Still looking over options on that front.
